Backed by a proficient team of chemists, we offer top quality petroleum sulphonates to our clients. The chemical is prepared in compliance with international standard. It is presented in the market in varied packing as per the requirements of our clients. Wide array of chemicals including calcium petroleum sulphonate, barium petroleum sulphonate and others are attributed for high effectiveness, optimum Ph and eco-friendly.

Variety of chemicals offered under the category petroleum sulphonates include following:

Sodium Petroleum Sulphonate:

GL 1649 sodium petroleum sulphonate finds application as surfactant and rust inhibitor.< Sulphonate end of the molecule is of polar nature and hence functions as a typical anionic surfactant, orienting itself with water or other polar materials. While the hydrocarbon tail forms bridge to the non-polar phase.

GL 1649 is used in varied concentrations of 10% to 22% by weight in selected industrial and metalworking applications.

Applications of sodium petroleum sulphonate are tabulated below:

  Metalworking Fluids

GL 1649 Sodium sulfonates functions as emulsifiers and   corrosion. inhibitors in metalworking fluids. In liquid system,   sulfonates assists  in formation of an emulsion by holding oil   and water apart so that   they can co-exist & form. Suggested   SPS: GL 1649L, GL 1649M

  Anti-Corrosion Compounds

High molecular weight sodium sulfonates provide excellent   moisture barriers and adhere to metal surfaces. GL 1649H can   be compounded with petroleum oils, waxes, petrolatums and   various synthetic materials and the finished products find   applications as preservative oils and automotive rust proofing   formulations. GL 1649H forms thin film when dissolved to a   wide range of solvents. It acts as adhesive holding oil to metal   on solid surface. It binds oil to metal chemically, preventing   water and air from reaching the surface of the metal.   Suggested sps: GL 1649H

  Ore Flotation

GL 1649 sulfonates serves as flotation agents for various   metals and minerals. It has ability to wet the surface of   particles rendering the ore hydrophobic. This allows the ore   adhered to air bubbles and moved to the surface in the froth.   Sulfonate binds the ore particles to air bubbles in froth and   thus allow them to rise and separate from rock. Suggested   sps: GL 1649M, GL 1649H

  De-emulsifiers

GL 1649H grade sulfonates acts as de-emulsifier. A bulky   structure prevents them from forming a continuous protective   film around a droplet. It allows two droplets to contact one   another, forming a large droplet which separates from   solutions. Suggested SPS: GL 1649H

  Motor Oil and Fuel Additives

For this application, sodium sulfonates is often converted to   calcium or barium salts; though in some situations the sodium   sulfonates may be preferred. When it is used as additives,   detergency and rust inhibitive properties are the most   important functions of GL 1649H.

  Overbasing

It is a process of beefing up a solfonate molecule with extra   atoms including calcium and magnesium to seek out and   neutralize excess acids in a mixture. Overbasing is typically   used in motor oil additives. Suggested sps: GL 1649H

The sodium petroleum sulphonate is also used as dry cleaning solvents, printing ink & oil well drilling fluids and also finds application in leather processing.
